‘Window of opportunism’… Journalist suggests Tottenham could get ‘fantastic’ player for £35m if they wait

Conor Gallagher is a player Tottenham are very keen on.

Ange Postecoglou is said to be a massive fan of the player, but, unfortunately, this deal won’t be easy to do in January.

Chelsea apparently value the player north of £50m, while Spurs are hoping to pay more around £35m for the England international.

As things stand, Spurs won’t be able to get Gallagher for the price they want, but speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has suggested that Tottenham could get Gallagher at a more favourable price if they’re patient.

Gallagher could be available for £35m in time

Jacobs shared his verdict on the ‘fantastic’ midfielder’s future.

“I think if it is as high as £50m all in or £60m all in then Spurs won’t move, in January you can’t waste your time, so if you know that will be the ballpark then you’re going to wait and see if Gallagher signs a new deal, and then if he doesn’t there’s a real window of opportunism to get him at closer to £35m in the summer,” Jacobs said.

Gallagher’s price could well come down if he doesn’t sign a new contract at Chelsea, and make no mistake about it, Spurs will be waiting if it does.

Spurs have been looking at Gallagher for months at this point, and Ange Postecoglou is said to be a huge fan of the Chelsea ace.

Of course, whether or not he does decide to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge remains to be seen, but given that Chelsea have so many midfield options at the moment, they may not be willing to offer Gallagher the terms he wants at this juncture.

Make no mistake about it, these links between Gallagher and Tottenham aren’t going to go away, and if the door opens for this deal to be done at a cheaper price, Spurs will probably pounce.
