Jack Wilshere has told Stadium Astro that while he is wary of putting any pressure on any Arsenal academy prospect, he does feel that Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand is one to watch out for.

Wilshere recently spent a lengthy spell back training with Arsenal. In that time, it appeared that the midfielder got the chance to work with various age groups at the club.

The Gunners’ first-team is currently littered with incredibly talented younger players. And they are not the only prospects Arsenal fans are excited about.

As Wilshere went on to note, Charlie Patino is the jewel in the crown. But he is certainly not the only one who looks to have an amazing future ahead.

Wilshere was asked about those hoping to start knocking on Mikel Arteta’s door. And he went on to suggest that Salah is one who sticks out to him.

“I don’t want to tell you about a player who I think is really good then put pressure on him and it doesn’t work out,” he told Stadium Astro.

“But there’s a few in the academy. The fans will watch the under-23’s and know about Charlie Patino, who got his chance.

“But then there are other players out there, there’s a boy called Salah who is really good coming through.
There’s a lot of players in that group who are technically very, very good.”

Wilshere picking out Salah as Arsenal youngster to look out for is a major statement

It is interesting that Wilshere did name Salah. It arguably says a lot that he was not initially prepared to name one of the younger players, and ultimately picked out the 18-year-old.

Of course, Arsenal fans already know a lot about the teenager. He has five goals and contributed two assists in 14 games in Premier League 2 this season.

But it is still a major statement for Wilshere to name Salah as one who has a bright future ahead at Arsenal. He perhaps thinks that he is one player who can handle the pressure and is destined to find his way into the first-team.

Obviously, what may not help the academy prospects is Arsenal’s first-team continuing to progress. They could well be playing in the Champions League next year.

But Arteta has shown that he is not afraid to put his faith in the younger players. So the likes of Salah and Patino can still set their sights on edging closer to the first-team fold in the coming years.
