Wilshere has urged Rice to stay at West Ham amid transfer speculation
Jack Wilshere has urged Declan Rice to stay at West Ham.
The 29-year-old is currently without a club.
He spent just over two years at the London Stadium before leaving so he’s spent plenty of time around Rice.
Knowing the West Ham star and having played with him, his insight is interesting.
Wilshere has claimed that Rice should remain at West Ham despite ongoing transfer speculation.
Back in March this year David Moyes claimed that Rice is worth over £100m (Sky Sports), amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Speaking to talkSPORT about Rice’s future (via The Mirror), Wilshere stated:
“I’ve always said – and I’ve said this to Dec too – why would he leave West Ham now?”
“He’s the captain, he’s the main man, and he’s playing week-in week-out in the Premier League.”
“They are going in a good direction.”
“There will probably come a time when he will want to leave and win a title and play in the Champions League.”
“Maybe West Ham will play in the Champions League, but I don’t think they’ll win the title.”
“But, for now, he’s doing well, and he’s playing week-in week-out.”

You wouldn’t rule West Ham out from making it into the Champions League in the next few years either.
In the Europa League this season Rice has scored in both of the games he’s played.
He’s kicking on every season and finding a new level and it wouldn’t be the craziest thing to happen if he does lead the Irons to Europe’s top table.
West Ham fans will at least appreciate Wilshere’s comments as they’ll be desperate for Rice to stay.
If they can get a few more years out of him then it will be a huge success.
Player’s of his calibre usually move on and win trophies, though.
A move to one of Europe’s elite could be on the cards soon, but West Ham fans will have to enjoy him whilst he’s with them.
