Wolverhampton Wanderers are supposedly in the hunt to sign Toulouse defender Jean-Clair Tobido.
According to a recent report from The Birmingham Mail, Nuno Espirito Santo is eyeing a January move to snap up the man billed as Issa Diop’s replacement.
The 18-year-old starlet has risen to prominence in French football after a string of impressive displays at the back for Le Téfécé, making 10 appearances so far this season.
Tobido has alerted as many as 40 clubs said to be tracking him by rejecting an ‘unprecedented’ contract offer. One of those clubs is understood to be Liverpool.
There’s no doubt about it, Wolves have huge competition on their hands if they want to nab Tobido, but one player in their ranks might tip the balance in their favour.
Wolves may feel Willy Boly can play a role in this potential transfer.
The 27-year-old centre-back shares the same nationality as Tobido, and would undoubtedly be able to help the youngster settle in the Midlands.
Wolves may hope that playing alongside Boly at the back could be enough to see Tobido join their ranks.
Boly himself has plied his trade in Ligue 1, and the pair would have that in common.
The giant signing from FC Porto can take the youngster under his wing, and together they could be a force to be reckoned with for Santo.
