Arsenal have strengthened their attack this summer by signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting and he got off the mark with an impressive brace against Leeds this weekend.
Gyokeres’ arrival signals a change in approach for Arsenal, who will play with a recognised target man, allowing their flair players in attacking midfield to operate around and off the Swedish international.
However, Arsenal still have injured pair Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to return to add competition to their new-look attack, and Jesus confirming a major breakthrough in his long-running fitness problems.

Posting to Instagram, Jesus confirmed he was back in individual training with the ball, raising hopes of a full return in the near future.
William Saliba hails Gabriel Jesus return with defiant message to Arsenal’s rivals
Posting a video of himself dribbling with the ball in an individual training drill, Jesus wrote: “It’s been seven months of pain, uncertainty, and anxiety. Today, I finally feel light – like a child playing football again.”
The post was met with a number of encouraging messages from Arsenal teammates including Jurrien Timber and Reiss Nelson.
There was also a message from defender William Saliba, who wrote: “They are not ready for you,” backing the Brazilian to return with a point to prove.
Jesus has been out for months with an ACL injury, but could now be nearing a return to the Emirates in a significant boost to Mikel Arteta.
Gabriel Jesus could benefit from Arsenal’s attacking signings with position change
Jesus signed for Arsenal as their number nine, leaving Manchester City in a bid to be a leading striker rather than a versatile forward.

The Brazilian had previously told Pep Guardiola he wanted to play out wide, even when City had no striker following the departure of Sergio Aguero, but he changed his mind in 2022 and opted to join Arsenal.
Jesus has managed 28 goals and 20 assists in almost 100 appearances for Arsenal, and will hope to benefit from Gyokeres’ arrival, as well as the additions of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze.
He could perhaps find more game time back on the left wing, as he excelled for City, which could see him return to his best form in the Premier League.
