William Gallas has claimed on his Instagram story that Tottenham Hotspur were struggling mentally on Sunday afternoon following their midweek defeat to Liverpool – which ultimately had a knock-on effect during the 2-0 loss to Leicester City.
Tottenham have slipped to fifth place in the Premier League after their title credentials were tested by both Liverpool and Leicester – in which Spurs failed to pick up a single point. Liverpool, meanwhile, are now six ahead.
A mistake from Serge Aurier saw Jamie Vardy score a penalty, while Vardy’s second-half header deflected into the back of the net off of Toby Alderweireld. Spurs are a point behind Everton and Manchester United – and the latter have a game in hand.
Leicester sit in second, while Liverpool are six clear of Spurs and four ahead of the Foxes in first. Gallas responded to his old club’s 2-0 defeat on Instagram – criticising Aurier and claiming Tottenham were mentally affected from the Liverpool loss.

TBR’s view – Gallas could have a point
Aurier certainly was rash. Perhaps he was trying to impress, but diving in like that when Harvey Barnes is going away from goal is a schoolboy error and certainly one that Aurier is capable of – his foul on Sadio Mane last season, for example.
Tottenham’s defeat to Liverpool would have hurt Spurs. Roberto Firmino’s header came in injury time, but had they held on to a point – Spurs would have kept pace with Jurgen Klopp’s side. A bad week for Spurs, and £23million (BBC) signing Aurier.
