Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts stepped up when needed for the first team this season, but is he going to fade into the Elland Road backdrop once again?
The 19-year-old striker certainly made the most of his opportunity to impress in the Whites starting XI for eight Championship matches on the spin recently, with Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford both sidelined through injury.
He managed to net three league goals for the Yorkshire giants and was spearheading the attack well for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
But Roofe returned from injury in midweek to retain his spot in the Leeds XI at the expense of Roberts, who was an unused substitute.

Roofe is going to have the stranglehold on the centre-forward starting position and that does leave teenager Roberts in a tricky situation.
Roberts has shown he’s got the qualities to make a difference in a promotion bid, but his game-time is clearly going to be limited now and he is much more effective in a central position than in wide areas.
The Wales international will just have to be patient waiting for his chance from Bielsa and has to seize anything that comes his way.
It may feel like he’s disappearing out of the fold if he goes a few games in succession without featuring, but as already proven this season Leeds are going to need his qualities again at some point.
