Rangers moved to within striking distance of top spot with a convincing victory over Motherwell yesterday.

Rangers now sit in third place and are two points behind arch rivals Celtic, who are at the top of the league again.

Hearts separate the two Glasgow teams, although Rangers can leapfrog them with a win in their game in hand.

Rangers will take lots of confidence from the 7-1 thrashing of Motherwell and hope that this can inspire a title push from them.

Several players needed a confidence boost, including Ovie Ejaria. And his performance yesterday would have delighted Rangers fans and Gerrard.

The 20-year-old joined on loan from Liverpool in the summer and he has had a mixed spell to date.

In glimpses, Ejaria has demonstrated his undeniable talent, but he needs to add consistency to his game.

Yesterday, the England under-21 international was instrumental and it would have pleased Gerrard.

Ejaria delivered a masterclass in midfield. He pulled the strings and made things happen, demonstrating his attacking ability.

The youngster still has a lot to learn and improve but it was an encouraging performance that will convince Rangers fans of his talent.
