Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that loanee striker, Carlos Vinicius, will have an important role to play this season despite his lack of game time so far.
The big striker arrived in the summer on a loan deal from Benfica, with Spurs said to have an option to buy if they are impressed with what they see from Vinicius.

However, Harry Kane’s inspired form so far has seen the Brazilian limited to just a handful of appearances. Vinicius, 25, will hope to get more chances in the busy winter months and Mourinho, speaking to Sport TV (quotes via The Express), believes the striker can play an important role this season.
“Vinicius is different. He arrived and his space is obvious. We have two strikers, we don’t have three, four or five, and he is one of the two.
“The other is one of the three best strikers in the world and that creates him a difficult situation, but you can play both together, there are games in which you will do it. Alternation is important because Harry [Kane] cannot play all the games. Vinicius will play many times, he will have the opportunity to prove the Premier League and convince Tottenham to buy it.”
The comments from Mourinho will provide Vinicius with a timely reminder that he is valued by the Portuguese boss.

His position in the squad is in stark contrast to that of Gedson Fernandes. Mourinho, in the same interview, seemingly indicating he is willing to let the midfielder return to Portugal.

And that’s what the striker will have to believe and hope that Mourinho follows through on these comments.
Being behind Harry Kane is never going to be an easy thing. The England man oozes class and simply bleeds goals. Vinicius, then, will have to take his chances when they do come along.
Importantly, there are games for him to get involved with, so he should find Mourinho does give him plenty of opportunities in the coming weeks and months.
