Ruben Loftus-Cheek plundered a hat-trick against BATE Borisov on Thursday in the Europa League, and it might have been the kind of performance which encourages Everton to come knocking in January.

The England international was selected to start by Maurizio Sarri, and the midfielder made full use of his opportunity.

The former Crystal Palace loanee has found chances difficult to come by this season, with Sarri using the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Cesc Fabregas before him.

But he was given 90 minutes against the Belarussians, and his hat-trick saw him become the first English Chelsea player to hit three goals in one European game since Peter Osgood and Tommy Baldwin in 1971.

Despite his excellent showing, Loftus-Cheek still didn’t receive the total backing of his manager after the game.

As reported recently by The Daily Mail, Everton are a team that could move for Loftus-Cheek in January, as well as Crystal Palace again.

Perhaps the Toffees will feel even more encouraged now after seeing such a fine display from the 22-year-old.

Marco Silva has a lot of options in midfield at the moment, including Gylfi Sigurdsson who arguably plays in the Chelsea man’s preferred position.

But the versatile Loftus-Cheek can play from the right too, which surely makes him an even more attractive proposition.

Chelsea have already allowed Kurt Zouma leave for Goodison Park on loan, will Loftus-Cheek be next?
