Will Lankshear posts message on Instagram after Antonio Conte handed him Tottenham debut last night

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Will Lankshear has now posted a message on Instagram after Antonio Conte handed him his debut last night.

Spurs rounded off their preparations for the return of Premier League football with a 1-1 draw against Nice last night.

Matt Doherty opened the scoring for Conte’s men in the first-half with a well-taken finish as he continued his mid-season scoring streak.

The French outfit found an equaliser in the second-half as Spurs failed to deal with a corner. But on the whole it was a good run out for Conte’s men ahead of their trip to Brentford.

The likes of Emerson Royal, Dejan Kulusevski and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg all got some valuable minutes under their belt. And Conte used the second-half to take a look at some of the younger talents coming through at Hotspur Way.

The Italian replaced Bryan Gil with Lankshear towards the end of the game and the 17-year-old was delighted to make his debut.

Lankshear took to Instagram to express his delight at making his non-competitive Tottenham debut last night.

He wrote: “A moment you dream of as a little boy,” alongside a heart emoji.

His teammates flocked beneath the post to congratulate him too, with the likes of Malachi Fagan-Walcott and Tyrell Ashcroft leaving replies.

Lankshear made the switch to north London from Sheffield United over the summer after boasting a prolific record at youth level.

He bagged an impressive 40 goals in 50 appearances for the Blades’ U23 and U18 sides after being released by Arsenal last year.

The English striker has already netted four times in as many appearances for Tottenham’s U18 side this season too.

Lankshear has been spotted training with the Spurs first-team during the World Cup and he will be delighted after Conte gave him some minutes last night.

The youngster certainly looks set to have a bright future ahead of him and he will only benefit from being around the first-team set-up in north London.
