Will Jose Mourinho seek another Zlatan Ibrahimovic reunion at Tottenham?

Jose Mourinho has found his new destination, taking over from Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.

And it remains to be seen how his free-spending style will mix with Daniel Levy’s notorious frugality and preference for younger players with resale value.

Another man looking for a club after leaving LA Galaxy is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has worked with Mourinho twice before in his career, at Inter and Manchester United.

So could Mourinho be tempted into a third spell with the Swedish hitman? The fact he is a free agent may grease the wheels Levy, although his wage demands could prove an issue.

Starting with the positives, Tottenham need an experienced backup hitman for Harry Kane and Ibrahimovic wouldn’t command a transfer fee – and is free to move in January after a 31-goal season came to an end in MLS.

Mourinho knows him, trusts him and he has a mentality that Tottenham’s new manager may hope his new charges can learn from.

On the other hand, Ibrahimovic is not capable of playing in the fast-paced style Tottenham have established in recent years and his monumental ego means he is unlikely to take kindly to being a substitute.

And his wages would likely require Levy to smash his carefully constructed structure, which may also put the noses of established stars such as Kane and Dele Alli out of joint.
