Arsenal have been linked with Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic in recent days.

The Daily Mail recently reported that the Gunners are eyeing the United States international.

As well as Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle are said to be in pursuit of Pulisic.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are apparently long-term admirers of the 24-year-old.

Pulisic has just over 18 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

And the Daily Mail reports that there is little talk of a new deal with the Blues.

Pulisic hasn’t exactly been a resounding success at Chelsea.

He has scored 20 goals and contributed just 11 assists in 87 Premier League games for the club.

However, it’s a different story at international level, with Pulisic shining at the World Cup.

On Tuesday, he scored the crucial goal against Iran which put the USMNT into the knockout stages of the tournament.

In the 38th minute, Sergino Dest ran onto a ball in the box and headed it across the six-yard box.

Pulisic swept the bouncing ball home, getting hurt in the process after colliding with the Iran goalkeeper.

The attacking ace had to be subbed off at the break due to the incident.

And sadly, Pulisic ended up going to hospital due to the abdominal injury he suffered.

Nonetheless, even if he doesn’t feature against the Netherlands this weekend, he has certainly done his bit.

‘Put his body on the line’

The American media praised Pulisic for his efforts in the game.

Goal.com named the reported Arsenal target as one of the ‘winners’ from the match.

‘How unfortunate that he didn’t get to celebrate his moment, considering how much we all know he wanted it,’ they wrote.

‘The USMNT’s superstar finally got his superstar contribution, the goal that put his side ahead in its moment of need. He’d shown flashes in the opening two games, but this was no mere flash. It was tangible.

‘But, in scoring the goal that sent the U.S. to the knockout stage, Pulisic put his body on the line. Worth it, I think he’d say. He came back on but never looked quite the same before being substituted at half-time.

‘In a way, the injury has added to the legendary nature of his finish. Toughness in a sport that some skeptical Americans have long tried to paint as soft.

‘It’s a goal that will go down in history, one that caused a whole country to celebrate even if he couldn’t.’

Meanwhile, CBS Sports gave Pulisic 8 out of 10 for his efforts.

‘A nice early run at goal where he should have passed it, but he ended up losing it,’ they wrote.

‘Came up big late in the half with a strong touch in front of goal to score the opener.

‘Taken to hospital with an abdominal injury, which could jeopardize his status Saturday against the Dutch. Time will tell.’
