Newcastle United’s Ayoze Perez has performed below par for most of this season so far, but history suggests he will improve as it goes on.
The 25-year-old is yet to score a single goal so far in this campaign, while his only assist to date came at the weekend in the defeat to Manchester United.
But the Spanish attacking midfielder was a slow burner in the 2017/18 season too by scoring just one goal by October last year.
He ended up as the club’s top scorer with 10 goals across all competitions and hit a purple patch of form towards the back end of the season.

Rafael Benitez’s side are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season and have had a difficult set of fixtures to begin.
But there could be a real opportunity to pick up points in their next six games as they face Brighton, Southampton, Watford, Bournemouth, Burnley and West Ham.
Perez is a player that needs to come to the fore for the North East club and rediscover his goalscoring boots.
He is a creative playmaker that works immensely hard and should be back amongst the goals if he keeps plugging away at St James’ Park.
Benitez clearly has confidence in him to play a key role considering he’s a mainstay in the side and it’s up to Perez to deliver.
