'Will 100% leave Arsenal': Romano shares transfer update about Gunners 'leader'

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Arsenal defender Pablo Mari.

The transfer insider claims the Gunners have received a new bid for their 28-year-old.

Arsenal are now apparently mulling over an offer from Hellas Verona, who want to buy Mari outright.

Meanwhile, Monza are reportedly pushing for a loan with obligation to buy if they survive in Serie A.

But while the Gunners must choose, one thing is for sure, according to Romano – Mari wlll be leaving.

Mari joined Arsenal on loan in January 2020 before signing permanently in the summer.

However, the Spaniard has only made 22 senior appearances for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta views the defender as an ‘exceptional professional’, according to Goal.com‘s Charles Watts.

The Arsenal manager also described him as a “leader” in early 2021.

However, the Gunners have moved on since then, and now boast three world-class centre-backs.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Ben White and William Saliba will all be vying for a spot in the XI in the coming weeks.

At present, White is playing at right-back, but when Takehiro Tomiyasu is back, Arteta will have some thinking to do.

Mari is a solid player, but it looks as though there’s no room for him at the Emirates any more.

So a move away is very much the right solution for all parties.
