A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to question Harry Kane’s inclusion in the starting XI for this evening’s League Cup quarter-final.
Jose Mourinho’s Spurs face Stoke away in a 5:30pm kickoff for a place in the last four of the competition.
Tottenham are lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and the starting XI features captain Hugo Lloris in goal and a back four of Matt Doherty, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Ben Davies.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks make up the two-man midfield, while Dele Alli plays in attacking midfield – his first start since 26 November – alongside Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale.
Kane, meanwhile, leads the line, hoping to add to his 15 goals and 13 assists in pursuit of a step closer to a first trophy for Spurs since 2008.
However, the England captain has already made 21 appearances this season, so a game against a Championship side could’ve been seen as a good opportunity for him to get a rest and Carlos Vinicius to get a start.
This isn’t the case, however, and some Spurs supporters aren’t pleased with the decision – here are some of the social media comments:
