Why signing Christian Eriksen could take West Ham to the next level – TBR View

West Ham United have made a strong start to the 2020/21 campaign and are already defying the pre-season expectations of plenty of people.

That could make for a very interesting January transfer window at the London Stadium.

Boss David Moyes would have perhaps wanted a bit more from the summer window – despite the fact he is squeezing every ounce of blood, sweat and tears out of his squad.

Some reports have linked with the Hammers with a very ambitious move to bring Christian Eriksen back to London.

And on current form, why not West Ham for the Dane?

The 28-year-old has endured a truly torrid time of things at the San Siro with Inter Milan.

He cost the club £16 million from Tottenham just under a year ago but has failed to pin down a place in Antonio Conte’s team.

Eriksen will only decide to leave Inter if his wage demands of £120,000-a-week are met.

That could prove problematic for the Hammers but it certainly shouldn’t stop them trying to do a deal of some sort.

For too long West Ham have settled for mediocrity when it comes to signings but things could be on the up.

Moyes has given the club’s supporters a team to be proud of who are willing to fight for the badge on their chest.

Adding a player of Eriksen’s quality could be the addition they need to take them to the next level.

In seven years at Spurs, he scored 69 goals and claimed 89 assists during 305 appearances for the club and knows the Premier League.

It might seem like a long-shot and signing him permanently would probably make the Hammers hierarchy weak at the knees in a financial sense.

Eriksen would have a big point to prove and if a deal could be negotiated, his signing would be a no-brainer for West Ham.
