Why Rangers should consider move for George Byers after his come-and-get-me plea

George Byers may be playing for Swansea City at the moment but that has not prevented him from admitting he would love to move to Rangers.

In an interview with Mail Sport – via The Daily Record – Byers revealed that he is of Scottish descent and would jump at the chance to move to Ibrox.

He said: “If Rangers ever came in for me, I’d jump at it. They wouldn’t even need to ask the question. Not many people get to play for their boyhood club. So it’s one of my dreams – to play for Rangers.”

This could be a gamble worth taking as Byers has the potential to become a key first-team player at Rangers.

The 22-year-old has benefited from Swansea’s relegation to the Championship, playing 11 games this season.

Byers has now broken into the team as a regular starter and is going from strength to strength, having found the net twice this season.

And a manager like Steven Gerrard could squeeze the best out of the former Watford midfielder.

Byers is an attack-minded central midfielder and Gerrard will be one of his role models.

If Rangers did move for him, the former Scotland youth international could become a star for the Gers and the Scottish national team.
