Hartlepool United midfielder is attracting attention from a number of clubs ahead of the summer, according to reports.
According to TEAMtalk, Hawkes could make the jump up from the National League to the Premier League as Newcastle United, Burnley and Huddersfield Town are interested.
The Magpies face competition from two North East rivals in Sunderland and Middlesbrough. And Barnsley, Hull City and Sheffield United complete the chasing pack.
With eight clubs reportedly interested in the young midfielder, Hartlepool face an uphill struggle to keep him.
And reported Premier League interest should alert Leeds United, who have been linked with Hawkes in the past.
In April 2018, The Sunderland Echo reported that Leeds, Newcastle and Sunderland were scouting Hawkes ahead of a potential swoop.

But as other clubs appear to be stepping up their pursuit of the 20-year-old, it is time that Leeds re-entered the race and offered him a path to Elland Road.
Hawkes is a regular at Hartlepool despite his young age and he has scored five goals in 21 games for the non-league club this season.
Hartlepool’s official website describe Hawkes as an attacking midfielder who pops up in the box with goals and can take a deadly free-kick.
The youngster is set for a bright future and Leeds need to act quick if they are to beat any other potential suitors in this race.
