Ex-Spurs midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart has spoken out and advised fellow Dutchman, Steven Berghuis, against making a move to a ‘club like Everton’.
Berghuis played in the Premier League with Watford previously. That spell at Vicarage Road didn’t exactly go brilliantly but now, back with Feyenoord, the Dutchman is playing well again.

Indeed, Berghuis has dropped hints he might be open to a move back to the Premier League. Clubs like Everton, who sit in and around the top eight most seasons, are bound to be mentioned.
However, Van der Vaart believes Berghuis should stay put, insisting move to Goodison Park would not pan out.
“I think he should stay with Feyenoord. He is the man there, the team is built around him. Do you have to go to Everton when you are almost 29 or something?“, the former Real Madrid man said. (Football Oranje)
“If you don’t play well there twice, they will replace you with a clumsy Englishman and you will be out of the picture. Even with Oranje.”
Berghuis has rattled in an impressive 15 league goals this season to prove he can succeed at the top. This follows up an impressive last few years too, with the winger netting 12 and 18 times respectively.

This, of course, is a far cry from his spell with Watford, where he failed to net a single goal.
Ideal for Everton but Van der Vaart has a point – TBR View
In terms of an attacking midfielder who can score goals and create them, there aren’t many in better form in Europe right now.
However, Van der Vaart makes a good point given Berghuis’s age. It would be somewhat of a risk to come back to England now and throw all his good work with Feyenoord away.
On the flipside, Berghuis might feel he has a point to prove. Given his Watford struggles, the Dutchman might well feel it’s time to show the English game what he’s really made of.
