‘Who’s this stranger?’, ‘better days ahead’: Some Arsenal fans erupt after seeing who’s back in training

A number of Arsenal fans have been giving their thoughts on Mesut Ozil’s return to training, as pictured on the Gunners’ Twitter feed.

The 31-year-old has not featured for Mikel Arteta’s side since the resumption of English football in June, a back injury given as the reason for his absence.

Ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool on Wednesday, the manager was asked about Ozil’s availability on Tuesday afternoon, and he replied: “With Mesut the situation is still the same as it was.”

After then being asked if Ozil has any chance of playing again this season, Arteta responded: “I don’t know. At the moment, the situation remains the same. We will see if that changes.”

Later on in the day, however, Arsenal shared pictures of the first team in training, and Ozil was involved.

The German ace also shared a club picture of himself doing drills, via his own account and retweeted by the club, with the caption: “I AM READY.”

Needless to say, plenty of Arsenal fans were excited by Ozil’s training picture, and commented on social media:

Ozil has made 254 competitive appearances for Arsenal, including 23 this season in all competitions, during which time he has scored once and claimed three assists.
