Paul Tisdale

Perhaps known more for his fashion sense than his tactics Paul Tisdale was the very first name linked to the vacant position up the M5 from his current post at Exeter City. Since then he has rapidly fallen down to rank outsider, but is a candidate who may be more interested in the position than most.

Tisdale played for Bristol City in the 1990s, and has very respectively turned down offers to leave the Grecians, infamously Swansea City in 2010 when he was enjoying the highpoint of his Exeter City career so far – play-off chasing in League One.

The ex-Southampton man has won five promotions in his career, ranging from three in four years taking Team Bath the depths of the Western League to the Southern Premier division and back to back promotions with Exeter City from the Conference to League One, and almost into the play-offs for the Championship a season later – missing out by two points.

However, now may be the time for Tisdale to leave Exeter City, and Bristol City’s transfer kitty will be one he will never have experienced before. Tisdale is unlikely to jeopardise his career by moving midseason to a side that may well be only one division above his current employers next year, but if City have Championship football next year, expect the 43 year old to put his name forward.
