1. N’Golo Kante (Chelsea, from Leicester City for £32 million)
Having picked up both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award and the Football Writers’ Player of the Year award, the Frenchman is certainly not in short supply of gongs for his displays this season to go along with his Premier League winners medal.
The Frenchman has transformed the Chelsea midfield, with his defensive bite and energy being crucial as the Blues have won the midfield battle time and time again, with the ex-Leicester man refusing to be dominated by any opponent, excelling in the big games when it mattered most.
With some memorable moments, perhaps none more so than his fine goal against Manchester United in October, Kante has excelled and shown that he can fill the Claude Makelele role at Stamford Bridge, potentially ready to become a club legend if he can produce this form in the years to come.
