Who was the stand-out Everton player at Euro 2016?

Everton were the Premier League’s fifth-most represented team at Euro 2016 this summer, with no less than seven individuals representing their country at the highly anticipated tournament. With familiar faces playing for England, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Republic of Ireland, supporters of the Toffees were given a number of reasons to keep track of goings-on across the Atlantic.

Belgian international Romelu Lukaku experienced a mixed tournament. With two goals in five appearances, he hardly set the world alight. His double against Hungary showed the very best of his game, as he played the lone target-man role to perfection. However, when his team-mates really needed him to step up and take the game by the scruff of the neck – against the likes of Wales – he was unable to produce the goods.

The Toffees were well represented by the Republic of Ireland, with Seamus Coleman, Aiden McGeady and James McCarthy all featuring for Martin O’Neill’s side. Having qualified for the knock-out stage by finishing third in Group E, the trio faced elimination following an agonising defeat to the tournament hosts, France, who came back from a goal behind to progress to the quarter-final stage.

Meanwhile, Shani Tarashaj played just a single minute of football for Switzerland, versus Romania, and Ross Barkley failed to make a single appearance for Roy Hodgson’s England. The young midfielder will be disappointed not to have featured more regularly in a team that struggled for inspiration in the final third throughout the latter stages of their involvement. John Stones also failed to make a single appearance.

Now the tournament has reached it’s conclusion, you can vote for Everton’s stand-out player in France. Simply use the ranking tool below to pick who you think most impressed.
