Liverpool are reported to be closing in on one of the most promising additions of the summer in the form of Dutch youth international Ki-Jana Hoever.
The Liverpool Echo believe that the Reds are in advanced stages of talks over a contract for the 16-year-old after he spent time training with the club’s set-up at Kirby.
At first, it seems likely that the defender will play for the under 18s side before moving on to the under 23s and then the first team, something that many feel could come fairly quickly.
Hoever, a natural right-back, is a versatile option across the backline and has also filled in as a central defender at times, displaying the kind of football that many expect from someone to have come through the ranks at Ajax.
With superb technical ability and pace, Hoever also attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United and it is clear to see why given his form in the under 17s Eredivisie last season with the Ajax youth set-up in only his second full season at the club having joined from AZ Alkmaar.
He scored twice in 13 appearances whilst also breaking into Holland’s under 16s side having made his international bow with the under 15s.
By teaming up with the likes of Bobby Duncan in Liverpool’s youth teams for next season, there are plenty of reasons for Reds fans to be confident with one eye on the future of further success as Jurgen Klopp strengthens the club from top to bottom.
