West Ham United

Who is Ivan Ramis?

According to various sources Ivan Ramis has agreed a move to West Ham from current club side Real Mallorca.

Personally, I had never heard this players name before. From twitter, I also get the feeling that many others are in the same position.

According to the Spanish club, the 27 year old can have a medical with West Ham, although no fee has been stated.

The defender has been linked to a number of Premier league sides, but the London club look set to win the race for his signature.

Ramis has spent the majority of his professional career with Mallorca since making his debut in 2004. He has accumulated over 164 appearances in the La Liga over the course of eight seasons, contributing 9 goals in these matches.

On top of this, he has represented his country, Spain, at under 19, under 21 and under 23 level.

If the rumours are true, and West Ham really are signing Ramis, Sam Allardyce will have invested in an extremely experienced central defender – a vital trait for any newly promoted club. The Spaniard is exactly the sort of player the Hammers need to stand any chance of surviving for a second spell next season.

Ramis will join a host of new faces at Upton Park this summer, with Big Sam having already brought in goalkeepers Jussi Jaaskelainen, Stephen Henderson and Raphael Spiegel, midfielder Mohamed Diame and forward Modibo Maiga.

So keep your eyes peeled for confirmation of this transfer. If everything goes to plan, Ramis should be a West Ham player by the end of the week.
