Who could Luis Campos bring from Lille if named Tottenham sporting director?

Jose Mourinho is in at Tottenham, and now reports are focusing on who could be set to join him.

Assistant manager Joao Sacramento and goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos have already been brought in from Lille, and ESPN claim highly respected sporting director Luis Campos could be next through the door.

Campos is a good friend of Mourinho, and was responsible for signing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva during his time at AS Monaco.

Campos would certainly be an intriguing acquisition by Spurs – but who from Lille could he potentially bring with him to make a difference at Spurs?

Gabriel Magalhães

With Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen’s contracts expiring in the summer, Spurs are likely going to need a new central defender.

Of course, now that Mourinho is in charge things could change, but previously it simply hasn’t looked like they will sign new deals.

Perhaps Campos could facilitate a move for imposing centre-half Gabriel Magalhães.

The Ivory Coast international is strong as an ox, dominant in the air and tidy in possession.

Previously linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers (Mail), the 21-year-old could be great pick-up especially since his current contract expires in 2021.

Thiago Maia

Defensive midfielder Maia, previously a target for Newcastle United (Le10 Sport), is a tidy holding midfield player who can also provide a bit of bite.

The Brazilian lacks physical prowess, but is a great competitor in the middle of the park and isn’t pushed around easily.

He has strong technical qualities such as breaking the lines from deep with eye-of-the-needle passing or bursting into space by carrying the ball.

Zeki Celik

Right-back is absolutely an issue right now for Spurs, with the summer sale of Kieran Trippier looking like the wrong decision.

Serge Aurier has failed to step up, and realistically there is need for a new, natural right-back rather than shoehorning players into the position.

Zeki Celik is an attacking right-back who has also featured as a right-winger a few times this season, suggesting he could be a decent right wing-back for Spurs.

He has three assists to his name for Lille so far, and has been an excellent signing for the club since joining in the summer of 2018.

The Turkey international claimed in the summer scouts of ‘giant’ clubs had been looking at him (Fanatik).
