Some Arsenal fans were reacting after news emerged over interest in Ben White.

According to The Athletic, the club is preparing to make a move for the Brighton defender.

However, it’s being claimed a transfer is likely to cost between £40-50m. And the there is yet to be any contact established between the two teams.

The heft transfer fee is unlikely to be unsurmountable for Mikel Arteta’s team.

White’s displays last season earned him a place in the England Euro 2020 squad. He replaced the crocked Trent-Alexander Arnold, who pulled out through injury.

The ace made 36 appearances in the Premier League as the seasiders finished in the bottom-half of the table.

There seems to be a keenness on improving the quality of the squad no matter what.

However, personally, signing another centre-back would be a bad move from Arteta. He already has four different options available to him, and without European football.
