Nuri Sahin
The Turkish midfielder is something of a forgotten man, but the central midfielder is a quality player and a great passer of the ball.
The 27-year-old has fallen by the wayside a little, now back at his first club Borussia Dortmund thanks to the acquisition of Gonzalo Castro and the superb performances of young German Julian Weigl.
Sahin predominantly plays in the centre of midfield, but can play more defensively too. Furthermore, he brings with him good experience, having played for Real Madrid in the past and having a half season loan spell at Liverpool a few years ago.
Although it would not be classed as successful, this time on Merseyside could play a vital role in him settling in at Saint Mary’s.
Given that he does not seem to be a major part of Thomas Tuchel’s future plans at Borussia Dortmund, with a suitable bid, Southampton should be able to prise Sahin away from their clutches and bring the technically adept Turkish midfielder to the South Coast.
