Kevin Stewart

With Liverpool not being frivolous in handing out contract extensions to their young guns in recent times, the fact that Kevin Stewart has secured a new deal until 2020 during the course of the campaign demonstrates just how much he is valued by the hierarchy at Anfield. He is combative, energetic, aggressive, and not afraid to stick his foot in. Stewart would most probably be classed as a midfield enforcer who appreciates the value of winning the ball back for his side before playing a simple pass, but is also composed in possession too, able to competently pick out a more extravagant ball.

At the beginning of 2015/16, Stewart was on loan at Swindon Town where he enjoyed a promising start, but eventually his progress was waylaid by injury. Upon returning to Liverpool, the 22-year-old arguably had a much greater role to play than expected towards the end of the campaign, with his presence amongst the squad proving crucial when rotation was required amongst the midfielders.

The left-footer has already shown his ability to recover from injury, not only doing this at Swindon but at Liverpool too, and he has returned just as strongly as ever after an ankle injury. This is an encouraging trait for someone who wishes to make the grade, and if Emre Can is able to take the Englishman under his wing next season, Stewart could flourish.
