Which of these five Premier League clubs would be the most suitable destination for Celtic’s Moussa Dembele?

Arsenal

Of course, there is a great deal of uncertainty over whether Arsene Wenger will be in charge of the Gunners next season, but given the fact that the Frenchman is prone to re-shuffling his formation, often due to injuries in midfield, Dembele may well prove an effective fit.

The current state of affairs at Arsenal is that Wenger deploys a 4-3-3 formation with one central striker supported by two wide-men and a three-man midfield behind. Often the central role is occupied by either of Alexis Sanchez or Olivier Giroud, with Wenger usually opting to move Sanchez out wide in the front three and have Giroud as the spearhead if both players are on the pitch at one time. Doubt has been cast over the future of Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates, however, so this could pave the way for Dembele to feature as the lone front man ahead of Giroud, or force Wenger’s hand into playing both men up front, given the lack of recognised centre-forwards at the club.

Despite having less of an aerial presence than Giroud, Dembele’s capacity to play as a lone striker would make him a perfect player for the role. Arsenal are of course renowned for playing balls into feet in the final third, and with the majority of Dembele’s goals coming from balls into feet in the final third, in which the Frenchman can make himself opportunities with his technical flair and skill, he  would certainly suit the Gunners’ style of play and profit from the creativity of players such as Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla. He may even work well partnering Giroud, with Dembele feeding off the aerial power of his compatriot when Arsenal do need to be that little more direct.

One burning issue would be that based on current form, Arsenal are the more likely candidate to have trouble in guaranteeing Dembele Champions League football, which may be a vital factor in coercing the player into a move, as well as being vital for the player’s overall development. Although, Arsenal are a club that puts a great deal of emphasis on developing young players, and that may well help him.
