Celtic star striker Moussa Dembele is a wanted man. Courted by several clubs even before Celtic swooped to sign the youngster from Fulham, his progress at Parkhead since has quickly elevated the Frenchman’s status to that of one of the most sought-after strikers in the UK, if not Europe.
20-year-old Dembele scored 17 goals for Fulham in 46 games in 2015/16 having signed for the Cottagers from Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 16. Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was prepared to take a punt on the youngster and thus he became the Northern Irishman’s first signing since taking the helm. Dembele hasn’t looked back, netting 32 goals in 46 appearances for the Bhoys in all competitions, including strikes in the Champions League against Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach, and now, after just one season in Scotland, the Premier League may come calling.
Despite Rodgers informing The Scotsman of his belief that Dembele will remain at Celtic until 2018, several of the Premier League’s big boys have been earmarked as potential suitors for the prolific striker, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and leaders Chelsea, who were linked with a deadline day swoop for the Frenchman back in January.
The former Liverpool boss believes that the French U-21 international would benefit from an additional year at Celtic with a taste of European football, but with the nature of modern football and big clubs often in the market for goal-scoring centre-forwards, the Scottish giants may have a tough task in keeping him.
Of the five English clubs believed to be interested in the Celtic hitman, Tottenham are allegedly leading the race at present, after The Sun claimed that the North Londoners have had a deal in the pipeline for some time and are confident of finalising a move, whilst Glasgow Live claimed that the forward had distanced himself from a move to Chelsea given the fact that he could not be guaranteed regular football at Stamford Bridge.
But how would Moussa Dembele complement each of the five, and which is likely to be the most suitable destination?
