As Chelsea edge ever closer to the Premier League title, certain members of their first team are being linked to individual awards for their achievements this season. Speaking to Sky Sports, N’Golo Kante tipped his Belgium teammate Eden Hazard for the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Frenchman said: “For me it’s easy to say one player from Chelsea. We can all see what Eden Hazard is doing. He’s a different-class player.”

Hazard has been electric this season and Kante is right to praise the Belgian, but the former Leicester star has also had a stellar campaign. Which one of the two is more likely to win the PFA award?

Eden Hazard

The Belgian has been superb this season, finding the form he had when Chelsea last won the title, and he has led the Blues to where they are now.

Hazard started the campaign slowly, with two goals in his first five league appearances but after Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal, resulting in their tactical switch to a 3-4-3 formation, the Belgian has been free-flowing.

The 26-year-old is Chelsea’s second highest goalscorer behind Diego Costa and is their most productive player, having created 60 chances so far this season.

Hazard reminded everyone of how crucial he is to Chelsea with a match-winning performance against Manchester City. In what was a crucial fixture in terms of the title race, the former LOSC Lille man found the back of the net twice, winning the game for his side.

The PFA Player of the Year award seems set to be awarded to the Belgian, but one of his teammates has also been just as impressive this season and could pip him to the accolade.

N’Golo Kante

Like Kante praised Hazard, the Belgian has praised the Frenchman. The winger told Chelsea TV that he sometimes sees Kante twice on the pitch, while also saying “He’s a fantastic player and helps the team a lot so we are happy to have him in the team.”

The French midfielder has been integral since joining Chelsea and he is set to become the first outfield player to win back-to-back titles with two different clubs. In his current side’s formation, he provides the balance between defense and attack.

Going forward, Kante has scored one goal this season while he has created 17 opportunities for his teammates. However, his best work has been done protecting Chelsea’s defensive unit.

The Frenchman has made 65 interceptions and 67 tackles during this campaign, helping Chelsea keep 12 clean sheets. If anyone is to beat Hazard to the PFA Player of the Year award, Kante is that man.
