TBR Football understands that Chelsea are not expecting to face a points deduction after the FA charged the club with 74 breaches of regulations.
Chelsea have been charged with breaches of the FA’s football agents regulations, regulations on working with intermediaries, and regulations concerning third party investment in players.
The charges relate to conduct from 2009 to 2022 but the primary focus of the investigation is regarding events which occurred between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons.
Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed the £2.5 billion takeover of Chelsea in May 2022 when sanctions from the UK government forced Roman Abramovich to sell the West London outfit.

Exclusive: Chelsea expect to receive a heavy fine from the FA
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has exclusively revealed that Chelsea do not expect to receive heavy sanctions, such as point deductions, from the FA due to their cooperation in the investigation.
Bailey states: “Yeah, as this was the previous regime that will help them, and the belief is they will avoid sporting sanctions such as points deduction, etc.
“Sources believe a heavy fine is due, based on the club’s cooperation and transparency throughout the process.”
As confirmed by TBR Football among widespread reports, Boehly self-reported the breaches to the FA to ensure that Chelsea offered their full co-operation over the alleged charges.

Boehly has enforced wholesale changes at Stamford Bridge in aid of financial stability, with Chelsea’s use of intra-company asset trading a prime example of how the club operates under the American.
Manchester City recently reached a settlement with the FA over breaches of the Associated Party Transaction rules (APT), concerning clubs profiting from commercial deals with companies linked to their ownership.
Of course, Everton received two points deductions in the 2023/24 campaign for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, as did Nottingham Forest.
Todd Boehly has saved Chelsea from severe punishment
As revealed, the charges brought against Chelsea have nothing to do with Clearlake Capital or any potential wrongdoing by the current ownership.
The FA and the Premier League have shown leniency to clubs in the past, based on the level of cooperation, as seen with Manchester City and Everton.
Therefore, Boehly has put Chelsea in the best possible position to deal with the subsequent sanctions, which, according to sources, should have no ramifications on the current season.
With a heavy fine being the most likely outcome of the FA’s investigation, the Blues will likely move past this debacle relatively unscathed.
