Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Tottenham announced that Heung-min Son had signed a new four-year contract.

What’s the story?

Well, you might be wondering why this concerns Liverpool, first of all.

According to 90min, the Reds wanted to sign Tottenham’s No.7, with Real Madrid also eyeing Son’s situation.

However, any talk of the South Korean leaving N17 has now been quashed by his decision to sign a new contract.

Son’s new deal commits him to Spurs until 2025, and will see his wages rise to around £200,000-a-week – if the Guardian are to be trusted.

With Harry Kane’s future still far from certain, it must be a relief for Nuno Espirito Santo to see Son commit his future.

Son seems to be doing just fine at Tottenham, with a remarkable 107 goals in 280 games to his name.

However, had he moved to Anfield, we feel he would’ve thrived under Jürgen Klopp.

The German excels in getting the best from his forwards. Under his tutelage, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have risen to become two of Europe’s best.

Klopp’s system is also an intense one, in which pacey, direct and hard-working players tend to thrive – Son is all of these things.

Sadly, a move to Merseyside now looks very unlikely to happen.

Nevertheless, let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Tottenham’s announcement
