Where did it all go wrong for Kevin Mirallas at Everton?

Everton player Kevin Mirallas has confirmed his desire to remain in Serie A with Fiorentina.

The Belgian winger has no desire to return to Goodison Park and fight to become a regular under Marco Silva.

He has only made four apperances for the Italian outfit, including one start, but that has been enough to convince the player his future lies away from Merseyside.

Mirallas was signed by Everton in 2012 from Olympiacos for a reported £6 million.

He has made a total of 186 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals.

He’s featured fairly prominently, but he never really endeared himself to the Goodison faithful.

Mirallas’ attitude overshadowed his fantastic ability

He hasn’t left Everton just yet but his latest comments do indicate that he is finished with the club.

Six years after signing for the club, it’s safe to say that Mirallas, 31, hasn’t really fulfilled his potential.

This could be down to the player’s attitude.

Mirallas was such an exciting talent in his first few seasons, but he never really kicked on.

Often he would frustrate by being inconsistent. He had all the tools to excel, but there was just no indication he would become polished or that he himself wanted that.

He can be compared to Hatem Ben Arfa of Newcastle – he also had remarkable natural ability, but just couldn’t seem to realise his true potential, and regularly left fans frustrated.

Mirallas appeared not to realise he was underperforming, which only made matters worse.

With the club seemingly on the up at the moment with a squad brimming with hungry players, you’d be hard pressed to find an Everton supporter who wants him back.
