‘When you speak’: Journalist shares what Arsenal insiders have been telling him about January transfer window

Journalist Charles Watts has now shared what Arsenal insiders have been telling him about the January transfer window.

The Gunners have got off to a flying start to the new season and currently sit top of the Premier League.

Much of their success has been down to their excellent work during the summer window as they brought in proven top-quality players like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

But Arteta is still slightly light in terms of depth in midfield and across the front-three. The Spaniard will be keen to bolster his squad in January and it seems that Arsenal are confident of doing so.

What Arsenal insiders have been saying about the January window

Goal’s Charles Watts has been speaking about Arsenal’s intentions for the upcoming transfer window on his YouTube channel.

Watts highlighted the need for Arteta to strengthen his side with at least one or two signings in January to build on a positive start to the season.

And the journalist shared what people at the club have been telling him about the possibility of bringing in some fresh faces.

“I think they will try. The sort of noises you get when you speak to people at the club is that there is a confidence that and a willingness for them to do it,” he said.

“But at the same time, you always get the same thing is that it’s not just about your willingness to do it, it’s about the other club and the players you’re trying to bring it.

“It’s never easy to get them through the door in January.”

Arsenal have been brilliant so far this season but there are concerns that their squad depth could prevent them from challenging for the title.

Arteta seems to be slightly short in midfield, with Mohamed Elneny and Sambi Lokonga the only back-up options for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.

The Gunners would also benefit from another quality option across the front-three to compete with their impressive attacking trio.

Arsenal failed with a deadline day bid for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz and also missed out on Raphinha to Barcelona over the summer.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Arteta move for a midfielder and wide-forward once again in January.
