A number of Everton fans have been left reeling by Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the Toffees’ purported pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee.
The Goodison Park outfit has reportedly been vying with Italian outfit Parma for the Bayern Munich striker’s services in the January transfer window.
Zirkzee is one of the most highly rated young players in world football, making Goal.com’s NxGn list last year at number 22.

Despite his talent and potential, he has struggled for game time this season, with just five senior appearances under his belt.
Bayern are reportedly willing to part ways with Zirkzee, and Everton are believed to have rekindled their interest in the Dutchman after being keen on him back in 2017.
Romano’s latest update, in the early hours of Thursday morning, suggests that the Toffees are losing the race to Parma.
And some Everton fans were gutted to hear things weren’t going in the right direction regarding their club’s pursuit of the striker:
Romano previously suggested that Everton may not have first-team football in mind for Zirkzee from the off, while Parma reportedly want to give him minutes right away.
Could that potentially have proven a dealbreaker for the player?
