Jurrien Timber is set to return to action for Arsenal after the international break in what is a huge boost for Mikel Arteta.

The Dutchman had impressed on his debut for Arsenal before suffering an ACL injury against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season.

It was a cruel blow for the Gunners and Jurrien Timber at the time, particularly after the defender caught the eye during pre-season.

The 22-year-old hasn’t featured since but Mikel Arteta did reveal that he returned to training last month.

Now, Football.London’s Kaya Kaynak has claimed that Timber is set to return to action for Arsenal ahead of the run-in.

Timber set for Arsenal return

Kaynak took to X on Tuesday morning and shared the latest on Timber’s fitness.

He wrote: “Barring any setbacks Jurrien Timber is set to return for AFC after the international break.”

Football.London also notes that the next few weeks will be crucial for Timber.

It remains unclear whether or not he will be ready to feature against Manchester City but he should be involved at the business end of the season, providing his recovery continues to go as planned.

Arsenal fans were rightly excited by the arrival of Timber last summer as he joined for a £38 million fee from Ajax.

Based on his only competitive appearance for the Gunners, the defender seems well-suited to Arteta’s demands. Not only is Timber comfortable on the ball but he also excels in 1v1 defensive situations.

It would be a huge boost for Arteta to have the defender back ahead of what looks set to be an exciting couple of months at Arsenal.

With the Gunners currently leading the way in the league and set for a mouth-watering last-16 Champions League clash against Bayern, the return of Timber will be welcome news for Arsenal fans.
