Aston Villa may have had a few hiccups in recent weeks, but for the most part, they are doing incredibly well under Unai Emery.

The Villans currently sit ninth in the Premier League table on 18 points, just one adrift of third-placed Chelsea.

Aston Villa are also in a good position in the Champions League table, sitting eighth after three wins and one loss in the competition.

Now, there could be some great news on the personnel front, with one of Villa’s most in-form players set for a bumper new contract.

Aston Villa expected to announce new Morgan Rogers contract

TBR Football sources say Morgan Rogers is set for a new contract at Villa in wake of his progress since joining at the start of the year.

Sources also say the Villans are expected to make an announcement when the 22-year-old returns from international duty with England.

Rogers’ current contract runs until the summer of 2029, but Villa want to extend his deal further, along with rewarding him with improved terms.

How has Rogers fared at Villa?

Rogers has been a revelation for Villa since joining from Middlesbrough in the latter stages of the January transfer window.

The Villans reportedly paid Boro an initial fee of £8million, which could eventually be worth £16million if all add-ons are met.

This has proven a bargain for Villa, as Rogers has become a vital first-team player for the claret-and-blue side.

Rogers has three goals and three assists from 15 appearances in all competitions this term, and his overall Villa tally reads 31 appearances, six goals and four assists.

Jamie Redknapp compared Rogers to Jonah Lomu earlier this season, while Danny Murphy described the Rogers signing for £15million as “just ridiculous” and Darren Bent says he’s been “exceptional”.

The 22-year-old’s efforts for Villa have been rewarded with inclusion in the latest England squad for their Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
