'What's being reported in Brazil': Sky Sports reporter shares Bruno Guimaraes transfer update

Newcastle United have been heavily linked with Bruno Guimaraes in recent days.

On Tuesday, Sky Sports claimed the Magpies had agreed a fee with Lyon in the region of £30m to sign him.

However, Lyon subsequently released a statement denying an agreement has been reached.

Today, Chronicle Live claimed the Magpies are holding further talks with the 24-year-old today.

And Newcastle are apparently hoping that they can land Guimaraes before the weekend.

The outlet claims the Magpies and Lyon have settled the outline terms of a preliminary agreement.

This is certainly a deal for Newcastle fans to keep tabs on in the next few days.

“Yes, he’d like to get this move to Newcastle”

It looks as though Guimaraes himself is certainly keen on joining the Magpies.

South American expert Tim Vickery, speaking to Sky Sports on Wednesday, has now provided an update on the state of play.

“There are two stumbling blocks at the moment,” he said.

“One is the terms of payment that’ll still have to be finalized. But the big one is – what does the player want?

“Would he be happy to trade near the top of the league in France and european football? Or near the bottom of the table in the Premier League?

“Now it’s probably to Newcastle’s advantage that at the moment Bruno Guimaraes is with the Brazil team, they play tonight in Ecuador.

“Because there’s no real way that Brazilians can know what a big club Newcastle really are. They’re giants, sleeping giants.

“With the Brazil squad he’s surrounded by Premier League players and I’m sure he’s pumping them for information.

“And what’s being reported in Brazil is that he’s decided – yes, he’d like to get this move to Newcastle.

“So that would seem one of the two stumbling blocks removed.”
