A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to rejoice in the news regarding several Hoops academy stars penning either professional contracts or extensions at Parkhead.
One player, Stephen Welsh, received particular praise as he officially signed a new three-year contract extension that will see him remain at Celtic until at least the summer of 2023.
The 20-year-old defender, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Morton, has already made his first-team debut for the Bhoys, featuring against Hamilton back in February.

Neil Lennon selected Welsh for the Scottish Premiership game at New Douglas Park, and barely put a foot wrong on his Celtic debut as the Hoops won 4-1.
The centre-back was a regular starter for David Hopkin’s side during the first half of the season and was rarely taken off during that time either.
However, Celtic were reportedly left frustrated as Morton largely utilised him as a right-back, despite viewing his future as a centre-back, as reported by the Daily Record.
Indeed, Welsh’s debut for the Hoops came as part of a back three, on the right alongside Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien.
Here is how some Celtic fans reacted on social media to news of his extension:
As well as Welsh, Adam Montgomery, Brody Paterson, Matthew Anderson, Adam Brooks and Paul Kennedy penned contract extensions.
Ben McPherson, Bruno Davidson, Joe Morrison, Ts’oanelo Lets’osa, Mackenzie Carse and Dylan Corr, meanwhile, signed their first professional contracts with Celtic.
