The Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer saga could finally come to an end as Newcastle United close in on the signing of Nick Woltemade.
The Swede has dominated the headlines all summer after deciding that he wants to leave St James’ Park and explore opportunities elsewhere.
Liverpool have been pushing to sign Isak and have even had a bid rejected by the Toon.
Now, things are falling into place, and Liverpool fans can begin to get excited ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Alexander Isak set to get his Liverpool wish after Newcastle seal Nick Woltemade deal
Newcastle United have had a very difficult transfer window.
The Magpies have been looking for new attackers since the start of the summer, but so many of their key targets showed no interest in a move to St James’ Park.
The likes of Joao Pedro, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all chose other clubs over Newcastle.
Amid all of that, Alexander Isak refused to train and even released a public statement to make it clear that he wants to leave the club.
Now, in what is finally some good news for Newcastle United fans, a deal to sign Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart has been agreed, and that opens the door for Isak to leave.
Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie tweeted on Friday that the Swede will get his move.
A part of his post read: “Liverpool are now expected to come in with a Premier League record second offer for Alexander Isak, and the striker will get his wish.”
Alexander Isak vs Nick Woltemade stats in 2024/25
Isak was arguably the best striker in the world in the 2024/25 season.
The former Real Sociedad man was one of the biggest reasons why the Toon qualified for the Champions League, and his numbers were incredible.
Woltemade, on the other hand, was a revelation for Stuttgart and helped them win the DFB Pokal.
| Games | Goals | Assists | Minutes per goal | |
| Alexander Isak in 2024/25 | 42 | 27 | 6 | 123.11 |
| Nick Woltemade in 2024/25 | 33 | 17 | 3 | 119.9 |
Adding to the above, Woltemade scored six goals and provided three assists in five games for Germany in the U21 European Championships.
Newcastle fans should be happy because they are all set to land a brilliant young striker, and with that, the Isak saga should come to a close.
That will delight Liverpool supporters, who will now be confident of retaining their Premier League crown.
