Arne Slot has got off to a strong start to life at Liverpool, winning three of his first four matches as the Reds’ boss.
A loss to Nottingham Forest at the weekend was a blip to say the least, but, overall, it’s been hard to pick many faults in Slot’s start to life at Anfield.
Speaking on Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been asked about the new Liverpool manager’s start to life in Merseyside.
Lawrenson still works at Liverpool as a club ambassador and he has a great insight into what happens at Anfield as he’s around the club quite a lot.
According to Lawrenson, the view around Anfield is that Slot is doing very well, while the pundit also noted that Virgil van Dijk has been a massive help behind the scenes as Lawrenson claims that The Dutchman is very much the dressing room leader.

Virgil van Dijk has helped Arne Slot
Lawrenson spoke about Slot and how the £75m man has helped the gaffer.
“You talk to a lot of people at Anfield Lawro, how is your new man doing? What is the sense at the club around Arne Slot and how he’s getting on with the players,” Lawrenson was asked.
“Very well, very, very well. The big bonus for him is Van Dijk. The Dutch connection there and Van Dijk is the man in the dressing room in terms of the players and everything, so that’s been good. He’s a bit like Klopp in that everyone likes him and he stops and talks to people,” Lawrenson said.
Arne Slot’s job has been made easy
Replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, on paper, is one of the hardest jobs in football history.
However, Slot’s job has been made so much easier due to the characters he has in his dressing room.
Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and most of the Reds’ other players are all consummate professionals who have been successful for years.
There are no huge egos and no huge troublemakers in this team, this is a group that knows what they are doing and how to win the biggest trophies in football.
Slot had a very tough job on his hands when he agreed to replace Klopp at Liverpool, but managing this particular group of players isn’t that difficult a task.
