A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the report claiming Mikel Arteta could be leaving Mesut Ozil out of the Gunners’ 25-man Premier League squad.
The 31-year-old has featured sporadically under Arteta and, after English football resumed in June, he did not play a single minute, a back injury cited as the issue.
Ozil was a surprise starter in the 3-2 friendly defeat at home to Aston Villa, with a follow-up report in The Sun claiming Arteta was looking at ways to keep him involved.

However, the midfielder is yet to feature in any of Arsenal’s competitive games this season and wasn’t even included in the Gunners’ Europa League squad earlier this month.
Now, the Daily Mail claims that Arteta is set to leave Ozil out of his Premier League squad, with his group containing 19 foreign players, two more than they are allowed to register.
The outlet noted how the Spaniard “sidestepped” the question on whether the German will be named on Tuesday, saying: “He wasn’t the only one who was not in the Europa League squad.
“It is a difficult decision for me to make because to leave players out of the squad, where they know they cannot get involved, is tough.
“I don’t like it at all, but unfortunately the decision has to be made because we have an excess of foreign players.”
