'What technique', 'wizard': Spurs-linked £18m attacker wows his country's media with 'high-class' display

Spurs are reportedly eyeing Mikkel Damsgaard, a player who is making serious waves at Euro 2020.

According to Samp News 24, new Tottenham director Fabio Paratici has earmarked the Sampdoria ace for a summer move.

Back in February, the Daily Star reported in February that Tottenham were keeping tabs on Damsgaard.

However, Spurs will probably be joined by many other teams in admiring the Denmark international this summer.

Spurs reportedly keeping tabs on a top talent

The 20-year-old joined Sampdoria last September from Nordsjaelland.

The Italians reportedly paid £5.8m, making him Nordsjaelland’s third most profitable sale.

Damsgaard hit the ground running and clubs reportedly began monitoring him within months of joining.

The Dane made 35 Serie A appearances last season, registering two goals and four assists.

Gazzetta dello Sport speculated in January that he is now worth around £18m minimum.

However, chances are that Damsgaard’s price tag will increase much more given his heroics for his nation this summer.

“Damsinho”

Damsgaard is in Denmark’s squad at Euro 2020 and has enjoyed a stunning tournament so far.

Against Belgium, he covered every blade of grass and won huge plaudits from fans.

And in the crunch game against Russia, Damsgaard scored a simply wonderful opening goal en route to qualification.

The youngster collected the ball just outside the box, took a touch to line up a shot and curled home a sensational effort.

Denmark went on to beat Russia 4-1 and seal second place in Group B, advancing to the knockouts.

And after the game, the Danish press sung Damsgaard’s praises.

Tipsbladet wrote: “Damsinho had a hard time finding the goal in the beginning. When he found it, the Park exploded.

“Damsgaard became the first player born in the 21st century to score at a European Championship, and it was a dream goal that brought Denmark to 1-0.

“What an evening for the young man.”

And TV2 wrote: “The little, boyish wizard is getting more and more grown up.

“Worked hard and did what he loves in playing with the ball.

“His 1-0 goal was a pure gem, struck with power and speed. What technique. High class.”
