When Ruben Amorim first arrived at Manchester United, fans at Old Trafford would have been aware that patience was needed.
Amorim inherited a seriously disjointed Man United team from Erik ten Hag after years of ill-advised signings.
In addition, the former Sporting CP manager reportedly didn’t want to take the job until next summer either, when he would have had a full pre-season to work with his players.
Of course, the reality is that United, at least in terms of their league position, have gone backwards under Amorim thus far.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 14 | 25 | 7 | 9 | 9 | 27 | 31 | -4 | 30 | |
| 15 | 25 | 8 | 5 | 12 | 28 | 35 | -7 | 29 | |
| 16 | 25 | 7 | 6 | 12 | 29 | 47 | -18 | 27 |
The signing of Patrick Dorgu in January from Lecce should be a step in the right direction, though, a player who evidently has a long-term future in Amorim’s preferred system.
Man United players are doubting Ruben Amorim’s tactics
That being said, Mail Sport have just shared an interesting report detailing how some of United’s players are feeling about Amorim’s tactics behind the scenes in Manchester.
Described as a ‘disaffected group’, some players genuinely believe that United’s positive results under Amorim have only come as a result of individual moments of quality or luck.

There’s a feeling that Amorim’s tactics aren’t to thank for these moments – a worrying verdict for the former Sporting boss.
Of course, it would be interesting to hear Amorim’s own take on this opinion, a manager who would probably reply quite strongly.
More than anyone, the Portuguese boss will be aware that his players are struggling to match his tactical plans, hence why a rebuild is needed at Old Trafford.
And in truth, Amorim might not be concerned at all by these ‘disaffected’ players, ones he might not hope to rely on long-term.
United continue to scout Victor Osimhen in Turkey
In terms of United’s rebuild moving into the summer, Amorim already confirmed that Harry Maguire’s contract had been extended last month.
United are keeping tabs on Victor Osimhen in Turkey, a striker who is thriving whilst on loan from Napoli.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirzkee have both had their own struggles in front of goal recently, a pair who cost United big money.
Of course, Chido Obi will also want to be involved in the striker question having made his debut at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
There’s a big rebuild ahead for Amorim’s side, and one that needs to be sufficiently backed by United’s board.
