What Rob Holding said back in Arsenal's dressing room after getting sent off against Tottenham last season
In the latest episodes of the ‘All or Nothing: Arsenal’ series, footage shows what an angry Rob Holding said in Arsenal’s dressing room after Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son got him sent off last season.
The Gunners faced off against their bitter rivals back in May and lost the game 3-0. It was a crucial blow to their Champions League aspirations and Spurs went on to seal fourth place.
Rob Holding was sent off in the first-half after being shown two yellow cards for challenges on Son.
The red card completely damaged Arsenal’s hopes in the game and Spurs grabbed a vital victory.
What Holding said after Son got him sent off
A clip from the Amazon documentary shows Holding walking into the Arsenal dressing room and he’s furious about being left one against one with the Spurs man.
The 26-year-old complains to one of the Arsenal coaches about being left to face Son on his own.
He said: “I should’ve never been one vs one in the first place, all the time one vs one.”
The centre-back then sits down and does not look happy about being sent off in what was probably his team’s biggest game of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s men were already 1-0 down in the game after a Harry Kane penalty. But after Holding was shown red, Spurs quickly added another just four minutes later.
It proved to be a damaging loss for the young Arsenal side as they then fell to defeat at St James Park the following week, which all but ended their Champions League hopes.
You can tell from the episode that Holding did not like playing against Son and feels he shouldn’t have been left to deal with the player by himself.
Holding received the two bookings in really quick succession as well. The defender first held Son back as Spurs attempted to break.
He then attempted to block the South Korean from making a run in behind but was booked yet again.
The Englishman clearly couldn’t handle the threat of Son and Arsenal were second best in the game after he was dismissed.
