TBR Football understands Real Madrid are paying close attention to Chelsea’s star midfield pair of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
Real were fully aware of both players prior to them moving to Stamford Bridge in their record-breaking £100m moves in 2023 from Benfica and Brighton respectively. Fernandez cost £100m in a British record transfer, before they broke their own record later in the year for £107m to sign Caicedo.
Both players have settled wonderfully well in West London and they have forged an impressive partnership in Chelsea’s midfield, winning the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

TBR Football can now reveal via sources that Real are maintaining a watching brief over the duo as they assess their midfield options going forward.
Real Madrid love Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, working on potential midfield targets
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Real are maintaining a watching brief on both Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, along with other top options including some younger options such as PSG’s Joao Neves and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
Bailey says: “Real are doing their due diligence on potential midfield options. They are constantly doing work on potential targets.

“Under Juni Calafat they have transformed their recruitment and their ability to make the right moves. The midfield department is something they are looking at.
“They are not worried but are concerned about their depth, and I am told that Fernandez and Caicedo are two players they love and are watching them regularly.”
Why Real Madrid are concerned about their midfield options after Toni Kroos and Luka Modric departures
Since 2024, Real have seen midfield icons Toni Kroos and Luka Modric depart and they are looking at potential long-term options.

Fede Valverde is showing up brilliantly under new boss Xabi Alonso, whilst French starlets Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga have shown their potential.
However, there is belief within the club’s hierarchy that they are missing something and there is a real lack of high calibre depth.
Real are still hopeful that Tchouameni and Camavinga will prove there is no worry for them long-term, but the club are doing work on other options and we can confirm that both Fernandez and Caicedo have been highlighted as players who would fit the bill.
