What people at Tottenham are privately saying about Thomas Frank after one month as Spurs boss

Thomas Frank has settled in as the new Tottenham Hotspur head coach.

The Dane replaced Ange Postecoglou over a month ago, and he has been tasked with leading Spurs into a more successful era after their Europa League win in May.

Frank did a phenomenal job at Brentford over the years, and everyone knew he deserved an opportunity at a bigger club.

At Tottenham, he has that chance, but how has he fared in his role since his appointment?

Thomas Frank has won over people inside Tottenham

Thomas Frank has always come across as a great person.

The 51-year-old’s press conferences are always a good watch, and the way he speaks about the game, opposition players and managers shows that he is a stand-up guy.

Frank is, in many ways, different from Postecoglou.

The Australian was very well respected behind the scenes when he was at the club, but he was often viewed as a very serious man.

The new Tottenham boss’ personality is quite the opposite, and nobody inside the club has a bad word to say after working with him over the last month.

That’s according to The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke, who said on Last Word On Spurs: “Frank is a really, really impressive person, and again, like Vinai (Venkatesham), everyone I speak to is full of praise for him.

“I know it’s kind of a honeymoon period, like everyone is popular in their first month in a job, but people are really, really positive about this guy.

“He’s so smart, he’s so switched on, he’s a brilliant communicator, he’s brilliant with players, he is really fantastic at setting the right culture, really good at improving individual players.

“I think he’ll be really, really good for all those reasons.”

Thomas Frank needs help at Tottenham

Despite their terrible finish in the Premier League last season, Tottenham have a decent team.

Their defence is solid when the system is organised, their wingers are capable of hurting the opposition, and Dominic Solanke is not a bad striker by any means.

Spurs’ midfield, however, is an area of concern, and they clearly don’t have enough depth across the squad to play in four different competitions.

Frank needs more new signings in the coming weeks, and it’s up to Daniel Levy to deliver after the deal to sign Morgan Gibbs-White failed.

If no new names come in, Spurs are likely to struggle again.
